Shane Davis began his engineering journey straight out of high school by enlisting in the US Navy as a submariner. He attended Nuclear Field A School and Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, FL and went on to Charleston, SC to work on a prototype nuclear reactor. He finished his enlistment as a machinist mate second class and engineering laboratory technician aboard the USS Sunfish, SSN 649. Shane then began to further his education at St. Petersburg Junior College and then transferring across the bay to the University of South Florida, completing a degree in Physics.
He has been working as a patent searcher ever since. Shane has extensive expertise searching in the variety of technical disciplines including electronics, semiconductor manufacture and design, software, biomechanics/biomedicine, mechanical, and optics. His particular focus has been in the area of Freedom to Operate (FTO), having personally conducted well over 500 FTO searches.
Shane, his wife, and his two children have made St. Petersburg their home. Shane enjoys coaching his son’s basketball and his daughter’s fastpitch softball teams. In his free time, he enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is an evolving kickboxer, and is currently undefeated as an amateur mixed martial arts fighter.
